We will be meeting on Wednesday 13th July, 7pm at the Children’s Centre, Waterloo Meadows, Elgar Rd.
Our Agenda is varied and includes having a member of the Reading Conservation Area Advisory Committee to tell us about the Christchurch Conservation Area (most of which is in Katesgrove) as well as discussing the possibility of starting up a Walking Group.
Please come and join us and find out how you can get involved.
Katesgrove Community Allotment has been awarded 15 bags of RE3Grow Compost – this will be used by our allotment volunteers to help grow all sorts of fruit & vegetables over the coming months, some of which will be distributed to the VegforReading scheme.
KCA will be meeting tomorrow evening at the Children’s Centre Waterloo Meadows, Elgar Rd at 7pm till 8:30pm.
As well as finalising details of our Katesgrove Jubilee Party on 4th June, we can discuss/problem solve any issues that you may have about our area.
Please come along and get involved.
KCA will be meeting this week to discuss putting on events and how best to communicate with residents in our area. Details are:

Please come along and get involved if you live or work in Katesgrove.
Thank you to everyone who attended our virtual AGM last week. I am pleased that we have a committee made up of 8 local residents – all wanting to get involved and help KCA grow!
We have decided to hold our AGM on line at 7pm on 26 January. Please contact us if you would like the link to join the meeting.
I attach a poster to advertise the meeting – if you are able to print it and put in up somewhere in our community, it would be much appreciated AGM poster
I also attach an invitation which explains the different roles on the committee and how you can nominate someone (with their agreement) AGM invite
We welcome new residents to join us and we look forward to meeting you!
Our Annual General Meeting is to be held on 26 January 2022 at 7pm. Due to Covid 19 we have decided the meeting will be held on line again – please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join the meeting.

As advertised in our recent newsletter, we are launching a photography competition with THREE CASH PRIZES of £10 for our favourite snaps on the theme What Katesgrove Means To You!
This is to update our social media photographs with the talent of our neighbours, and give you the chance to win a little something for your wonderful submissions.
The contest launched in early May: what does Katesgrove mean to you?! Capture it in a photograph, or share this contest with your friends who like to take photos
To send your entries in:
– send us a message on our Facebook page
– email us at email@example.com
(in both instances we will only contact you to acknowledge receipt and if you are a winner)
We will close the competition on June 25th so please spread the word, involve your kids, involve your friends, and send us your photos of What Katesgrove Means To You!
Thank you to everyone who attended our virtual AGM on 11th November. The committee was elected and we have 9 local residents taking on different roles who are excited to be involved with all things local, for their neighbours!
We are still looking for a Secretary & a Treasurer – if you are interested in being part of the committee in either of these roles, please contact us on our Facebook https://www.facebook.com/KatesgroveResidentsAssociation , via email at firstname.lastname@example.org , or on the Nextdoor app (search ‘Katesgrove Community Association’ in groups).
Waterloo Meadows Allotment
At the meeting, we were presented to by the Chair of the Waterloo Meadows Allotment Association which was fascinating as some residents had not seen much of the allotment. The KCA have an allotment in this lovely patch – usually tutor led sessions by Food4Families take place twice each month, these will be starting again in March 2021.
The committee discussed wanted to run some fun events despite the lockdown restrictions – this means the KCA are going virtual! The first annual KCA Christmas quiz is planned in, with another fun competition for residents coming up in the new year – both with prizes available.
A reminder that Katesgrove Community Association will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 11th November at 7pm; the AGM will be different this year as we have to hold it virtually due to Covid 19 restrictions – so make yourself a cuppa at home and join the meeting on line!
We have the Chair of the local allotment group to tell us about the work they do and he will provide a virtual tour via photos of the allotments. We will not have as much to report this year, but we will provide the end of year accounts, the Chairs Report and appoint officers to the committee.
In the lead up to the meeting, we would like to find out who you would like to nominate to take on the various roles within KCA: Chair: Chairs the meetings, ensures the meetings take place and that everyone has chance to contribute
Vice Chair: assists the chairperson and takes over their duties if away/ill
Secretary: takes notes at meetings, looks after the email account
Treasurer: monitors the records kept of all money paid in and out of the account, liaises on independent check of accounts
Events & Environmental Officers: work together with members to put on both fundraising and clean up events
Members: contribute to the groups’ decision making, help to organise activities
Please note that you can nominate yourself or another person. Please make sure that any nominated persons are happy to take on their position. If you know someone willing to stand (this could be you) please email details to KCA by 5pm on Monday 9th November.
If you would like to join the meeting on line, please email Katesgrovecommunity@gmail.com and the meeting link will be sent to you.
