Thank you to everyone who attended our virtual AGM on 11th November. The committee was elected and we have 9 local residents taking on different roles who are excited to be involved with all things local, for their neighbours!

Waterloo Meadows Allotment
At the meeting, we were presented to by the Chair of the Waterloo Meadows Allotment Association which was fascinating as some residents had not seen much of the allotment. The KCA have an allotment in this lovely patch – usually tutor led sessions by Food4Families take place twice each month, these will be starting again in March 2021.
The committee discussed wanted to run some fun events despite the lockdown restrictions – this means the KCA are going virtual! The first annual KCA Christmas quiz is planned in, with another fun competition for residents coming up in the new year – both with prizes available.
A reminder that Katesgrove Community Association will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 11th November at 7pm; the AGM will be different this year as we have to hold it virtually due to Covid 19 restrictions – so make yourself a cuppa at home and join the meeting on line!
We have the Chair of the local allotment group to tell us about the work they do and he will provide a virtual tour via photos of the allotments. We will not have as much to report this year, but we will provide the end of year accounts, the Chairs Report and appoint officers to the committee.
In the lead up to the meeting, we would like to find out who you would like to nominate to take on the various roles within KCA: Chair: Chairs the meetings, ensures the meetings take place and that everyone has chance to contribute
Vice Chair: assists the chairperson and takes over their duties if away/ill
Secretary: takes notes at meetings, looks after the email account
Treasurer: monitors the records kept of all money paid in and out of the account, liaises on independent check of accounts
Events & Environmental Officers: work together with members to put on both fundraising and clean up events
Members: contribute to the groups’ decision making, help to organise activities
Please note that you can nominate yourself or another person. Please make sure that any nominated persons are happy to take on their position. If you know someone willing to stand (this could be you) please email details to KCA by 5pm on Monday 9th November.

Sustrans are a charity that make it easier for people to walk or cycle and they are looking at making some changes to pathways through Waterloo Meadows, at Fobney Lock and near the Katesgrove underpass.
Sustrans are holding a drop in session on Tuesday 22 October, 10:30am to 1:30pm at the Children’s Centre, Waterloo Meadows, Elgar Rd. You can go along and talk to them over a cuppa about their ideas and share your views in a Survey.
Our AGM is being held on Wednesday 16 October, 7pm at the Christ Church Centre, Milman Rd.
In addition to the ‘formal’ parts of the AGM, we have a local artist showing some of his work and a local resident providing a short talk on the History of Katesgrove.

Our 2019 AGM is to be held on Wednesday 16 October, 7pm at the Christ Church Centre, Milman Road. Please come along and find out what we have been doing during 2019 – including details of environmental initiatives, community events, and Katesgrove’s Community Allotment.
Also at this meeting we take a few minutes to agree our General Committee which can have up to 15 Ordinary Members. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else (with their permission) for a role on the committee, please fill out the attached form and return it to us by 5pm on Wednesday 9th October. (The form also provides a short remit of each role).

On Saturday the 22nd of June, we will have a litter pick and tidy up in Katesgrove. Come and have a good time with neighbours, while making our streets look pretty again! We will start at 10 am and finish at 1 pm – feel free to join at any point during this time. The central point is at Namaste Kitchen, Katesgrove Lane, RG1 2ND. Coffee and tea will be provided by the restaurant.
Litter picking equipment is provided, but to make sure that we have enough, it would be great if anyone who has their own equipment can bring it. Contact us if you have any questions. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
